Children and Sports

One of my friends asked “Why do you pay so much for your daughter to practice so many sports?”
Well I have a confession to make, I don’t pay for my daughter to do sports. Personally, it does not matter, as long as

She learns the ‘lessons and values’, which the disciplined life of sportsperson teach!

So, if I am not paying for sports, then what am I paying for?

Sports Ethics

– I pay for those ‘moments’ when my daughter gets so tired that she wants to quit, but doesn’t.

– I pay for those ‘days’ when my physically drained daughter comes home from school, but still goes for the practice.

– I pay for my daughter to learn to be disciplined, focused and dedicated.

– I pay for my daughter to learn to take care of her body and the equipment.

– I pay for my daughter to be a team player, gracious in defeat and humble in success.

– I pay for my daughter to learn to deal with disappointment, when she doesn’t get that placing or title she’d hoped for, but still she go back week after week giving it her best shot.

– I pay so that my daughter can be out on the field or in the gym instead of being in front of a screen.

– I pay for my daughter to learn to make and accomplish goals;

– I pay for my daughter to be proud of small achievements, and to work towards long term goal;

– I pay for my daughter to respect, not only herself , but other athletes, officials and coaches;

– I pay to create opportunities for her to make life-long friendships, create lifelong memories;

– I pay for my daughter to learn that it takes hours and hours, years and years of hard work and practice to create a champion and that success does not happen overnight;

– I pay to give her the opportunity to be able to positively influence the lives of others.

Foresee Value of Sports

I can go on and on. So, I don’t just pay for the sport(s), I pay to inculcate and reinforce core value of valuing her resources/assets (time& health) and mindfulness for her entire life.

Therefore, I strongly feel it is an extremely valuable investment in every parent’s child’s life.
